Another great piece of art from Cartel Nov 13, 2009 After Cartel's EP Ransom, and albums Chroma, Cartel, and now Cycles, there is no doubt that they are an amazingly talented band. Each subsequent CD has witnessed a change in style but at the same time has remained unique to Cartel. I love their new CD. Some of my favorites at the moment are Retrograde, Only You, and of course, their single Let's Go. If you're a fan of Cartel, you won't be disappointed in this album. If you're a newcomer to their music, pick it up, you won't regret it. A quality band that is often overlooked.

Cartel does it again Oct 24, 2009 Another great CD from one of my favorite bands. Classic Cartel sound with some harder songs (Deep South) and more chill songs (Only You). Great vocals and excellent instrumentation make it another winner by a fantastic band.

just did it! Oct 21, 2009 I heard this album on Rhapsody's on-demand music streaming service, and it's FREAKIN' GREAT! It's full of ambient beauty and turbo-charged energy, this guy's voice is used to great effect, with some neato synths layered in with it, making it beautiful AND intriguing! The songs will inevitably run into one another if you're not paying attention to the album first and foremost, but what kind of way to rate an album is it to judge by its background-appeal??! This is upbeat, sweet, syrupy gooey goodness! A tinge of melancholy permeates the album, in the same way The Cure's "Friday I'm In Love" (everybody knows that song right?) manages to be "upbeat" yet "melancholy" simultaneously. I swear, I wouldve already bought this album, but I'm down to $2.23 including spare change I have on my dresser and I gotta ship some stuff to AbundaTrade in the hopes of getting some more dough...and $2.23 isn't even 1/4 of what's needed to get this album and I'd be kinda sad if it were, since these guys can't starve themselves, we need them to LIVE, LOOOOOOOONG LIVES! KEEP IT UP DUDES! Hopefully they won't bounce back into "s/t" territory on 12" #4.

Truely Cartel Oct 21, 2009 Cartel tell is one of the olny bands that i own more then 1 album - Incubus and The Matches are the only others. And I must say out of the 3 bands i just listed, Cartel is the only band to not change their sound so drasticly. Cartel always stays true to who they are, and still sound amazing doing it! They still "sweep you off your feet" with each song on every album. I have seen them live 2 times. I really hope i can see them live with this album, but right now, i feel like it might be the best, in my opinion!

Fun while it lasts Oct 20, 2009 I like Cartel a lot, however I am prone to listening to their releases over and over for a few days and then burning out. I like Cycles but maybe it has something to do with the vocals being a bit too familiar across the past 3 albums. Standout tracks for me are Deep South, 27 Steps and Conventional Friend. But in general, I can play through the whole thing several times in a row, no problem.
