I have been enjoying the music of Billy Joel for about thirty years. His history has taken me on an amazing musical odyssey. There are these simple stories that so many of us can relate to, whether its Piano Man or Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. And then there's the songs that draw back and smack you right between the eyes, like Goodnight Saigon or Leningrad. High energy songs like Pressure. Quiet, reflective songs like Lullabye(Goodnight My Angel). The guy does it all.
And this collection has a good chunk of Joel's massive body of work. Whatever Billy Joel era you enjoy - and let's face it, its all good - there's something here for you to enjoy.
But to be honest, the real treasure of this inclusive, and reasonably priced, "greatest hits" is the Disc Four lecture. In this recorded college lecture, the Piano Man draws back the curtain and lets us in on his history, his creative process, and so much more. I have had the privilege to see Billy Joel in concert on numerous occasions, including his tour with Elton John, but nothing quite like this. If you are a new fan or a longtime devotee, you'll get a lot of insight on Disc Four. Its a bargain, grab it now.

 A good mix of his work, but not complete by any means Jul 05, 2009
I like this collection, don't get me wrong. Billy Joel has had so many hits thru his career that it would take 10 disc min. to record them all. I first saw him in 73,74 at the ambassador theater in st. louis, mo. and was hooked on his music. I hope the ballad of billy the kid will be on his next hits cd, and more work from his early years from piano man and streetlife serrenade. But this set will do just fine for now. Excellent buy for all you get,including lyrics, and an inside look into the making of his music. Grab this set while it's still available for your library. Keep up the good work Billy, and may God bless all your endevours in life.
Awesome Collection of Billy Joel's Hits Mar 19, 2009
Whether or not you are a Die Hard Billy Joel fan, Billy Joel has written/sang awesome songs from the early 70's to the late 90's; owning just his greatest hits volume 1 & 2, you would be missing out on volume 3 & volume 4, PLUS pay a much higher fee, if you purchase them individually. Buying the 4-cd PACK was a logical choice for me, since all of his best songs - including "Piano Man", "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant", "My Life", "Still Rock & Roll to me", "We Didn't Start The Fire", "River of Dreams" - just to name a few, are in this cd set and you cannot beat the price.
A Fabulous Collection Mar 04, 2009
This 4 disk set has so many wonderful songs and many bring back memories as I have been a fan for over 20 years.
I was disappointed at first that the 4th disk was an "interview" type session, but after listening to it, have decided this is my favorite disk in the set. It was great to hear from Billy himself some of the thought processes that go into writing and performing his wide range of songs.

I purchased this set on sale the day after Thanksgiving and couldn't wait to play it. I leave it in my car and play it all the time. A few months back I saw Billy Joel with my husband and teenage son at the last play at Shea, the second night when Paul McCartney and others appeared!! It was great, the last time I was at Shea for an outdoor concert was when I saw The Rolling Stones and I was pregnant with my son that went to the Billy Joel concert with me. Billy Joel never disappoints, and I can't wait till he comes out with a DVD of the Last Play at Shea, but until that day, I will continue to enjoy this CD of all my favorite songs by Billy Joel. I also like the one CD that has Billy Joel answering questions regarding his songs and playing his songs in what sounds like an intimate setting. Buy this set if you want to have all of Billy Joel's favorite singles in one set. The sound quality is excellent. The set also comes with the words to the songs which is great.
