It's great Nov 23, 2009 I highly recommend getting this book in hardcover, it's worth the extra money and extra postage.
interesting Oct 15, 2009 An interesting mix of good and bad stories and good and bad art. Some are literal interpretations of Tori's songs, others are fun, even if they don't. If you don't know the songs, the lyrics are printed in there to give you a vague idea. Some are gorgeous, others, like the one for Merman, disrespect the song :< . All in all, even if you don't like Tori that much, or you just like comics, this will give you visual stimulation for weeks! highlights: Marianne, Leather, Upside Down and Silent All These Years.
Take a trip on a rocket ship... Sep 13, 2009 I never knew that Tori Amos was into comics none the less it makes sence. When I recieved this book in the mail I could not take my eyes off of it. I have been a huge Tori fan for years, so the songs I know by heart, it was so intresting to see a picture behind them. The art work is very nice in many ways one of the biggest being that its all so different as far as details go and interpretations. I highly recommend this book to anyone even if your not a fan, you'll fall in love with the comics!
Put witty review title here Aug 04, 2009 I don't listen to Tori Amos. I collect graphic novel anthologies that showcase a wide array of artists. I am also an avid fan of music and mixing mediums. So to combine "comics" with lyrics is a double whammy in my book! And having Neil Gaimen do the intro also helped peek my interest. The production value of this work is outstanding! The book is gorgeous, I have the hardcover. No matter what your views may be on the stories contained herein and how they relate to MS. Amo's lyrics is rather irrelevant to anyone of just love beautiful artwork. The myriad of styles and shear breadth of Amo's work is quite awesome. I also like that it is Tori Amos. They could have gone for the Beatles or Bob Dylan or The Stones but it is a woman musician and it is not the most glaring choice but once you see book you understand that it was the right choice. This is one of the top 3 anthologies I own now.
My only complaint is that I want more large books like this.
So on chance it's creators see this PLEASE do more work like this with musicians like
Kate Bush
The Police/Sting
Tom Waits
Cole Porter
Eurythmics/Annie Lennox
Lyle Lovett
Stevie Wonder
Swing Out Sister
The B-52's
The Cure
Comic Book Tattoo Jul 07, 2009 I've only had this for a little while and haven't read it cover to cover yet. But the variety of the work makes this a delectable piece to have. I like going through them and trying to see if I can figure out the songs based just on the pictures. Some are more obvious than others.
