 Wonderfully Warm; A True Christmas Classic Jul 09, 2009
With so many great reviews I hesitated to add another, but after finally ordering this CD (I have it on vinyl and still play it) as an "extra" to an order, and playing it (Christmas in July?!?!) I couldn't resist. The title track shows just what a great composer Percy Faith was. The musicianship, arrangements and scoring are perfect, traditional but not banal, capturing and expressing all the good feelings and meaning of Christmas. The mix of contemporary songs is really nice; a perfect blend of secular and "religious." Some personal favorites (besides the title track) on it are Silver Bells, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and I think the version of "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is one of the best ever made, really conveying the feeling of peace the song was written about. The CD/recordings are fine and compared to the original analog/vinyl I have no complaints; it sounds great thru my relatively high end "hi-fi," not the least bit harsh like some digital recordings. (Almost seems a shame to listen to it as an MP3 where something like 80-90% of the musical "data" is lost). Simply one of the best Christmas albums ever! It's timeless!

C'mon, admit it - who doesn't love Percy Faith's music during the Holidays? Even 50 years after their initial relesases, his albums are still played on Top 40, Adult Contemporary and Oldies stations every year.
That said, if you're one of the purists that have his first two albums (Music of Christmas Vols. 1 and 2), be forewarned: this is NOT your typical Percy Faith album; the style is a little more 'mod' and the arrangements bigger than you're used to. However, the title track still stands above the pack as a modern-day classic.
Still, it's a must-have for your Christmas collection...after all, it IS Percy Faith!

Thanks for having a very hard to find product. The memories of childhood roll back as I listen. Christmas Is, the soundtrack to my adolescent Xmas time. Used to sing in a Madrigal Choir in Iowa. Mr Schneider wherever you are I hope you are doing well.

I like anything by Percy Faith, especially his Christmas albums. When I saw this was available, I jumped at the chance to purchase it. It definitely lived up to my expectations!

This has been a family favorite since I can remember. We grew up listening to this on an original reel-to-reel recording. Timeless Christmas classics that take you back and make anywhere you play it during the holidays, feel like home. Includes songs such as Little Drummer Boy, Silver Bells and It's Cold Outside. It doesn't get more Christmas than this. A must have for your holiday music collection.
