 Solid Christmas Alternative to "Dry Remakes" Nov 21, 2009
I absolutely love this album! And I collect a lot of Christmas music.
It's a beautiful and masterful mix of holiday standards that all have a fun and uniquely "bootsy" twist. The music is positive but treat listeners to a another perspective on life. It has truely incredible harmonies with an old school funk feel will take anyone who was awake during the seventies down the happy memory lane.
Given the reviews so far it is a gem to discover. I am NOT a big Bootsy fan - but always "hope" he could make it back into the spot light.
I purchased this album last year but always slip one of his songs it the guest list selection.
Congratulations to Bootsy! This is "effortlessly" sucessful (not laced with the typical pretensions that artists insert into obligatory holiday covers).
And best yet it is truely an album the whole family can listen to - no matter what side of town we hail from.
Take a chance... this album has its highs and not so highs but I guarantee your guests will wake up and exhibt a puzzled smile of appreciation when you spin this one for them.
Other recommendations?
One big recommendation is to check out, "Straight No Chaser" - by a group called "Straight No Chaser" -
It's a college group that is becoming all the rage this year. They have a couple of holiday albums that are NOT seventies funk but have some old school R&B twists and surprises full of lush harmonies and some fun spins.
Not just for Christmas anymore Nov 05, 2009
This whole album is in my shuffle, it's not just for Christmas. Awesome album. I listen to mostly hard rock and heavy metal, yet Bootsy's holiday jams are in heavy rotation.

Do you want to dance at Christmas time? Do you want to party with Bootsy? Then this CD is for you. Some of the tracks are long...too long but when you're at a real party anthing can go. If you are a fan of Parlament, Bootsy, horns, Christmas music, and especially alternative Christmas music, you will love this groove.

This is my favorite Christmas Album and I can't wait to break it out again this year. If you like James Brown's Funky Christmas then you will like this. Enjoy!
