Beautiful, moving but not sentimental Nov 01, 2009 I loved this book (even better than Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt). It was full of description, historical background was well-developed, and the speculative biography of the Christ absolutely wonderful. It's a tall order, and Anne Rice has done it well. I cannot wait for the next volume in this series.

The Road to Cana by Anne Rice Oct 21, 2009 I did not actually order the book for myself; I bought it for my son. He said that he enjoyed it very much and that he was comforted by some of the writing. Kindness...Hope...Forgiveness...these are words that he used to describe it to me. As a result, he asked me to order for him Anne Rice's other Novel; Out of Egypt which I did today. I am looking forward to reading these books myself when I take my vacation soon. Thank you, Amazon for making shopping so easy on line. C.Bryant

Love Anne Rice Oct 12, 2009 This is a different side of Anne Rice but being a fan of hers and having purchased all her other books this series will be a great addition to my collection.

A Little Afraid At First! Sep 15, 2009 When I learned that Anne Rice was writing Christian novels, the author of the dark psyche, I asked myself, "What's the catch and is this another 'DaVinci Code?'" I am a young Pastor and a Biblical studies graduate. So you could say I was a little suspicious. My girl friend purchased the first book "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt," for a going-away present. The moment I finished the first page, I was hooked. Her witting style is both engaging and entertaining. It is amazing how Rice has reached into history and pulled events that could have and probably effected Jesus' raising. I purchased this book "Christ the Lord: Road to Cana" a month later. I completely read this book in less than a week!
DISCLAIMER!!!!! Much of the history and information about Christ personality and childhood are based on the Gospel of St. Thomas(if you read St. Thomas you'd understand why that's an issue). In addition, Rice uses a biblical studies technique called gaping. Gaping is examining scripture for implications. The saying is, "The Bible didn't say he did or didn't so you could say both." It's not completely scripture, it's FICTION with Biblical and historical accuracies!

Christ the Lord: The Road to Cana Sep 03, 2009 This book is outstanding! Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. Reading Anne Rice's work, since she returned to her faith, has been a gift for me. My friends and I have shared our reading and we all agree that these are outstanding books. The Road to Cana was my favorite, better even than Out of Egypt, which I also enjoyed.
