Interesting take on how Jesus might have lived as a child. Nov 10, 2009 This was definitely worth reading. While the story was fiction, it certainly was real. It provided some important insights into the people and culture of Jesus childhood. It is refreshing to consider what it would have been like for Jesus to be a person who was discovering his deity rather than a deity occasionally acknowledged to be a person.

Awesome, simply awesome Oct 26, 2009 This is the first time I've read anything by Anne Rice. I simply was not interested in the subject matter. Browsing a library, I noticed this title and it just jumped out at me. After reading the work, I can see why Rice is such a popular author. I absolutely loved reading the story of Christ's early life she has imagined. The stories she inputs are taken largely from the Bible, including gospels which have dropped from current versions (or never included). Rice's storytelling is outstanding. Although I can't say I'll read her vampire books, I will certainly read the other book in this series.

... Sep 24, 2009 This is an interesting move on the author's part to begin from the fiction work of the special powers of vampires and now move to the equally fiction work of the special powers of Christ.

A Little Afraid at First!!! Sep 15, 2009 When I learned that Anne Rice was writing Christian novels, the author of the dark psyche, I asked myself, "What's the catch and is this another 'DaVinci Code?'" I am a young Pastor and a Biblical studies graduate. So you could say I was a little suspicious. My girl friend purchased the first book "Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt," for a going-away present. The moment I finished the first page, I was hooked. Her witting style is both engaging and entertaining. It is amazing how Rice has reached into history and pulled events that could have and probably effected Jesus' raising. I purchased the second book "Christ the Lord: Road to Cana" a month later. I completely read it in less than a week!
DISCLAIMER!!!!! Much of the history and information about Christ personality and childhood are based on the Gospel of St. Thomas(if you read St. Thomas you'd understand why that's an issue). In addition, Rice uses a biblical studies technique called gaping. Gaping is examining scripture for implications. The saying is, "The Bible didn't say he did or didn't so you could say both." It's not completely scripture, it's FICTION with Biblical and historical accuracies!
Christ Out of Egypt Sep 07, 2009 Be sure to read the author's notes after reading the book. It is very interesting.
