5DON'T LISTEN TO THE 4-STAR REVIEWS  Nov 15, 2009
I have absolutely no idea how any Slayer fan would rate this less than 5 stars. I think some people want Slayer to keep remaking Show No Mercy and Reign in Blood every time they do an album-- Only problem is, 20 years have passed since those were made. This CD is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear when I bought it, BETTER than expected. AWESOME.

It sort of picks up where God Hates Us All left off but it's actually more fun to listen to. I myself think that God Hates Us All was absolutely riveting, not only in the music, but lyrically. It was so intense, in fact, that I see it in a different way than other Slayer albums. Christ Illusion has some elements of GHUA but it's actually a lot more fun to listen to. It has the perfect blend of tempo changes, in my opinion. And I like the lyrics. Perfect for the times. Good themes and perfect for Slayer at this time.

I'm not going to go into huge detail about the album; You should know what Slayer is all about. If you don't, I have no idea why you are reading this. This album was WAY better than expected for me and I had heard it a bit before I bought it. I guarantee I will wear this one out over the next couple years. IMO, it is perfect. 5 stars. **** those four star people. They probably have been smoking their neighbor's crack too much.

5Slayer are still Kings of their domain  Oct 31, 2009
Slayer are back in the saddle once again with Christ Illusion, their first studio album since 2001's God Hates Us All. As we have come to expect from Slayer, lyrics include God, violence, and blood. Unlike God Hates, the sound of this recording is far more brutal. I think this makes the over all Slayer experience more satisfying. The return of Dave Lombardo on drums is very welcome by this fan, as his drumming is the sound of Slayer. Songs like "Flesh Storm", "Skeleton Christ" and "Catatonic" call to mind the heyday of Slayer in their prime. Tom Araya sounds as convincing as ever, "..I've seen the ways of God, I'll take the Devil any day" as he growls out lyrics as fast as King and Hanneman can riff, matching them with lightning fast bass playing. Awesome! My expectations were far exceded with this album, and it proves that Slayer are still the Gods of Thrash.

5Slayer are Reborn!  Oct 13, 2009
One of the best Slayer albums in years! Tons of riffs, a masterpiece. I wish I would have picked up the cd with the extra track.

4Best Slayer album to date!  Jul 06, 2009
After taking a long while off from slayer, i bought christ illusion after listening to the song "final six." I was blown away by the opening track flesh storm, and the ride continued to get better as i got through the album. Slayer still has got it, and in my opinion they are still far superior to any new metal band that is out there. I am happy that slayer are still around, still doin what they do, and they don't pretend to be something they are not. They are always the same, and don't conform to trends. There is alot to be said for that. Some of my favorites from the album, Flesh Storm, Skeleton Christ, Jihad, Black Serenade, and Final Six. The whole album is solid though, flows from front to back. Anybody who was once into slayer needs to buy this album, it just might get you back into them!!!
