5Excellent Look at Warrant  May 13, 2005
After Warrant had tasted a lot of sucess with their debut albums "Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich" (1989)and "Cherry Pie" (1990)and had had the hit songs "Heaven", "Down Boys", "Sometimes She Cries", "Cherry Pie", and "I Saw Red", their fans had been really good to them, and Warrant returned the honor with the home video "Cherry Pie: Quality You Can Taste". This is an excellent look at Warrant. If you purchase this, you'll get to see clips of Warrant performing onstage at concerts, backstage at their concerts and while they were on the road. Interviews are also to be found here, and they did a good preview of what would become their third album, 1992's "Dog Eat Dog"- at one part of the video Warrant singer Jani Lane sings half of the ballad "Let It Rain" that would appear on that album, and he sings other songs he had started writing for that album that didn't make the cut, all of which had Elvis Presley medleys to them. It also shows Warrant's celebrated USO appearance at McGuire Air Force Base with the troops of Operation Desert Storm, and the end shows their "Rock the Vote" TV commercial- where Warrant actually told people to vote in the 1992 election and not to get fooled like they did in the 1988 election. What was so cool about it is that they did it with attitude- the attitude of themselves, politics, and the once beloved hair metal music.

There are also five music videos here- let me comment on them; I will comment on the videos by the order they appear on this video:

"Cherry Pie"- I love this video, I love this song, and I love Bobbi Brown (the model that danced in this video)- enough said.

"I Saw Red" (original video)- There maybe could have been a little more to this video, but both the video and the song are very lovely, and you get to see Jani Lane play piano while he and the other guys in Warrant are performing a song about having your heart broken because your girlfriend cheated on you- and they are performing it in the dark and putting a lot of emotion into it. A job well done.

"I Saw Red" (accoustic version)- The accoustic version of this song is not as good as the original version, but it is still very pretty- this time, you see Jani Lane at a graveyard in Nashville by himself, singing this song and performing it on accoustic guitar right next to either a grave or by a train track that was right next to the grave he was at. I've always had a lot of respect for Jani Lane- he said at the beginning of this video that he wrote this song based off some of his real life dating experiences, and he did a really good job at pulling this song off on accoustic guitar by himself. Also, the scenery of Nashville that appears in this video is very pretty.

"Uncle Tom's Cabin"- This video is like watching a movie- this song is a very good story based song, and if you thought that Aerosmith's "Janie's Got A Gun" video was good- then wait until you see this video. Before they showed this video, Jani Lane, Jerry Dixon, and Joey Allen all claimed that this was their attempt at writing more "mature" lyrics- and they did an excellent job at just that with this song.

"Blind Faith"- Probably the weakest video on here, but still very good, it is about loving a girl and making sure you can trust her before you welcome her into your life- Jani Lane also claimed before this video was shown that he also wrote this song based off some of his real life love experiences, and parts of the video show the guys in Warrant performing and other parts show a very pretty lady. I can see why radio disc jockeys may have hesitated to give "Uncle Tom's Cabin" radio airplay- but this should have been a hit.

If you can get a copy of this video, be sure you do. If you are the die hard Warrant fan that I am, then this is definitely worth the price- you get a good behind the scenes look at Warrant, music videos that probably don't get played on TV that much anymore are here, and the original demos of "Cherry Pie", "Love In Stereo", and "Mr. Rainmaker" were included as background music for some parts of this video. And when you purchase this, make a careful purchase- it is now available on DVD!

A very cool video.

5This video is awesome  Jan 06, 1999
Warrant's cherry pie video is one of the best i've seen. It has behind the scenes footage and rare interviews plus some of the greatest videos ever made. I recomend this video to anyone that loves warrant, glamrock, or the sexiest girl that ever danced on a video.
