Cut the instrumentals! May 20, 2009 This is a great song. My only criticism is the instrumentals during the chorus drown out her voice. The song would have been much better had they stuck with the simple instruments the song began with.

Distinctive Jan 27, 2009 I first saw her on SNL singing Chasing Pavements and thought, MY GOD WHAT A VOICE. I downloaded the mp3 from Amazon and I find myself playing it over and over again just because I love the uniqueness in her voice (and not to mention that the song itself is very catchy and addicting).
Haunting would be an excellent way to describe her voice. I think she's awesome!

I have to say her voice is haunting Nov 29, 2008 I saw Adele on Jay Leno. I loved the way her voice warbled and turned as she sang. I loved the sound of her voice so much that I had to go research and find out who was that girl with the distinctive sound.
I had to go to the Jay Leno's website to find her. After finding her, I typed in her name, only to find out that she is also BBC's number one pick for singing talent to emerge this year.
I can see why- well hear why...
She is a young singer, with her own views about what a STAR should look like. AND I agree 100% with her. She looks REAL and sings REAL...REAL GOOD :)
Another new Great UK Talent Sep 03, 2008 This song Is great and she will have a long and fruitful career In front of her If she picks the right songs!

Chasing the pavement Aug 10, 2008 Adele is the UK's latest export along with Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone, Lily Allen, Kate Nash and Duffy. She is part of the British blue-eyed soul movement, attempting an R&B sound on the far side of the Pond. With her Gallic name, Adele is following in the footsteps of Winehouse, Stone, and Duffy.
"Chasing Pavements" is,in a way, like chasing pavement. It doesn't go anywhere. (Is she singing about moving sidewalks? And to mind the gap?) It has a pleasant, jazzy sound. Adele has a pleasant voice. The melody is nice enough. Unfortunately, the lyrics are forgettable. It has no soul. Adele lacks Winehouse's angst, Stone's rough edges, and Duffy's passion. There's no spice to it. One ends up sitting on the pavement, listening to it all go by. It's best for ambient music.
