If you like his brother...oh, what's his name...it'll come to me... May 12, 2008 Yes, the vocal similarity is incredible. My music obsession set in in the late '70's, so I knew the three Epic hits "I Will Be in Love With You", "I'll Come Running", and "First Time Love" before the rest of the songs on this CD. I recommend them all and suggest an odd parallel between "First Time Love" and a Foghat single from about the same time called "Third Time Lucky". Same lyrical theme. Too bad I'm not at that third time yet...
The early singles "Get Out of Bed" and "Carolina Day" are also fine. Why they didn't push past the 90s on the Hot 100 is either because 1) the Capricorn label hadn't yet built up the promotional muscle that worked for the Allmans and Wet Willie; 2) radio thought LT sounded too much like JT and didn't want to keep explaining which song is whose to the audience; or 3) I have no idea. Anyway, Livingston sounds like a nice guy (see the typically-fine Razor & Tie liner notes), his music is pretty, and if you have more than three of the other Taylor guy's discs --and you know you do--you should check this one out.

overlooked performer Jul 09, 2006 it's not easy being Jame's brother. however, Liv's simple approach to country pop is refreshing. i personally like Liv better than James. if you like listenable music that grows on you this album is for you. Kudo's Liv!

A Consumate Performer & Songwriter Oct 08, 2005 Having seen Liv in concert in Tokyo plus corresponded with him briefly, he is a wonderful showman, guitarist & of course songwriter. Yes, comparisons to brother James are inevitable and must irritate poor Livingston no end, but people being people, it is something that one cannot help but address. I don't know if Liv would ever have "made it" without the musical profile of James but now that he has, he is holding his own admirably. James is certainly not insipid, but for my tastes, way too intense and introspective in comparison to the more relaxed and equally talented Livingston who, in my opinion, is a much easier "listen".

Remember when the music...... Feb 16, 2000 was something you could actually hear above the racket that hides most of today's so-called music. This is not simply a Greatest Hits collection, but one that is well worth 10 times what it costs. Although his slow melodic tunes are wonderful, he's much more than that. One of my favorites, Pajamas, is a cute, springy, jumpy yet certainly not juvenile number and if any of today's artists have the intelligence to remake that, I'll buy all his CD's. And that includes Nirvana. Yeah right. In my dreams. Maybe "Howl At The Moon." When they get an IQ over 20. Believe me, you spend $14 for this and you have a wonderful investment. Although I would hardly call his genius brother James insipid, Livingston is at least as good as James, if not better. If it is true that alternative rock numbs one's brain, listen to this and experience healing, something like when you've smoked for 40 years and suddenly quit. From I Will Be In Love With You to First Time Love this is a CD not to be missed.
