The perils of live shows Dec 30, 2008 Blackie Lawless said it all when he commented on W.A.S.P.'s "Double Live Assassins", about going out and doing your show while the recording equipment runs in the background and hope it'll be the best show on the planet.
I last saw Crue live at Hammersmith June 11, 2007. That venue is "notorious for its bad sound" (Lemmy, White Line Fever; Copyright 2002). The sound there is indeed dodgy....... but please don't anyone go and make the mistake of recording a live album at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
It wasn't Mick's best day - he must have suffered from severe back pain all through the show. Tommy's drums are too dominating - although he has some truely brilliant moments - while Nikki on most songs is hardly audible. Vince started out promising and all let's get-a rockin', so did the audience, partaking enthusiastically in the choruses of the first three songs. From then on his vocal performance changes dramatically, becoming an estranged melody just about resembling the song he's currently singing. The audience somewhere along the line on the first CD lost much of their energy.
CD 2 is better overall, the stand-out is Anarchy. I've never heard a better cover version of that song except for the Sex Pistols' own (and Sid's take on it). But Crue seem to go to great length to butcher all their 80s classics on this record.
A veneer of alternative doom superimposes this whole concert. Sorry, that's not what Crue are about. They're about fun, but they audibly have a harder than usual time to convince the audience of that on that day.

Crue Dec 14, 2008 Classic Crue. This is a must have if you are a Crue fan. One of the best live recordings I have heard in a while. Make sure you have a good sound system. If not you might not like the recording.
Crue Still Rocks! Mar 24, 2008 Great sound quality and post production. A couple too many ballads, but what can you expect from a genuine hair band! Worth a listen for any old school Crue fan, probably for the new school fans as well.
their 2nd double live album Dec 08, 2006 This should be a motley crue fans dream come true. Their first live album was great this one is better. Plus most rock bands don't put out enough live albums. Now they have 2 double live albums and a live ep if you count the 2nd disc of deluxe new tattoe. Also they have 2 amazing live dvds, check those out too. This live album is a 5 out of 5, you get 23 live tracks, with good sound quality.

The Return of The Crüe Oct 16, 2006 I was fortunate to actually go see the actual concert and I was amazed then, but then I discovered that a live album was to be released, I instantly wanted to own it. But, stupid me, I purchased the edited version from Wal-Mart so it is extensivly censored. I'll admit that the constant bleeping gets annoying but it doesn't change the quality of the music.
This is a great disc to add to your CD collection.
PARTY ON, DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
