Boys Should Be Boys Jan 30, 2010 Originally I checked out this book from my local library, Belleville Public Library, and read it. It was full of common-sense suggestions for raising boys, and since my husband and I raised two boys we had some of the same experiences and agreed with the author. My son is raising two boys of his own as a single divorced parent. Therefore we provided him with a copy of the book.

Dr. Meeker has a select audience and atheists not allowed Nov 25, 2009 The information located early in this book was insightful but then the book deteriorated when Dr. Meeker went into a lengthy dissertation on why children should be indoctrined into religion. As a profoundly inquisitive and well-educated person, I continue to be insulted by the perception that people who do not follow organized religion are either morally corrupt or destined to raise problematic members of society. Her views regarding religious instruction of children about a supernatural miracle working entity offer little to help with parenting. I appreciate and respect Dr. Meeker's right to believe what she wishes, but I certainly think her chapter on her personal beliefs and biases negated the good part of her book.

EXCELLENT! Nov 10, 2009 As the mother of nine children - 5 of them boys - I found this book to be right on target. Coming from a household of all girls myself, I learned many things about raising boys through trial, error, and a library of parenting literature. This book, as well as another by the same author - Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters - are the best that I have ever read.

Great Book - One I'll go back to again and again Sep 24, 2009 This book is very helpful with reassuring you that what your boys are doing when they're being boys is just fine and even good for them. Overall this is one book I will hang onto and recommend to others. I also recommend anything by Leonard Sax. This book will give you the strength to trust your intuition and not feel bad about saying no to the latest movie that looks like is geared toward kids but isn't. I think it is most helpful for parents of boys ages 4 and into the teen years. I only gave it 4 stars because there was one chapter I wish it had contained a little more advice about what to do or say to help make better choices (of course as I flip through the book I can't figure out which chapter that was so perhaps this grade is unfair).
