5THE greatest thrash metal that ever was and ever will be!  Sep 16, 2009
There are some that think this album is overrated or that Metallica and Slayer's early work is better but they're wrong. If you don't like this album you're wrong, listen to it again. Listen to it until you like it, love it. When I first bought this years ago I listened to it once and didn't listen again for about a year, then I listened to it again, then again, and again and again and now when I listen to Bonded By Blood you could stop the first track 10 seconds in and I'd be able to play the rest in my mind with no problem.

If you don't have this, GET IT, if you don't like it, LEARN TO ...because this is about as raw as thrash gets.

5Killer Thrash!  Aug 24, 2009
Exodus are one of the pioneers of the greatest music on earth, Trash Metal. This album is perfect, im not sure what else to say other than this is the perfect Thrash album for all time.

5The Best Thrash Album Of All Time!!!  Jul 21, 2009
Nothing is better! The title track Exodus says it all.-"Cut bare flesh to the bone, use a rusty knife"-What else do you need to know? The late great Paul Baloff on vocals-The Shredding guitars of Rick Hunlot and Lead guitarist Gary Holt.It kicks from start to end,I don't think there will ever be a better album to represent the thrash genre.I would say if you know anything-"ANYTHING" about thrash and the roots, well there is simply nothing more needed to be said. Some May arque Reign In Blood as the best of all time, and the arguments are of course legit. But there is nothing like this album-"NOTHING!"Buy the best.Simply no equal

5Possibly the most influential Thrash album ever made.  Apr 18, 2009
Of all the Thrash debuts to emerge in the early 80s, few made the impact that Exodus struck with this album.
Metallica's debut was more or less just a version of Americanized Motorhead, with a liberal doseage of Savage's "Loose N Lethal". Slayer's debut was a more technical version of Venom. Exciter's debut was agressive, but one note.Metal Church had Thrash in there music, but were more of a traditional based act. Anthrax were still working on there sound and Megadeth were more of a Speed Metal band than a Thrasher....in the beginning.
Exodus was by far the most brutal of the bunch. There level of proficency was far ahead any of there

contemporaries and there singer was the most venomous and evil to arrive on the scene at that point. Paul Bailoff's vocals are in a way, terrible, but fit the music as what they are supposed to be. A form of channelled, controlled agression and anger. The introductory title track is a masterwork for the vocalist and one of the genre's great anthems, celebrating for one of the first times, the brutality and insanity of the Mosh pit and of Metal fandom. Bailoff works similar magic on other classics like "And than There Were None" and the band's possibly best song, "A Lesson in Violence".

Of course he is complimented by the truly awesome chainsaw shreds of Gary Holt and Rick Hunolt who set a standard with there form of playing. It's there guitar work, especially that of the classic "Piranha" that set the standard for Extreme Metal to follow.

This album's impact on the Extreme Metal scene is sometimes forgotten but a testament to it's success lies in the fact that the production of this album STILL sounds so modern nearly twenty five years after it's inital release.

Undoubtably, one of the 100 greatest Metal albums of all time and one of the most important and awesome of it's kind. A thrasher's collection would be for the worse without it.

Still, the one to measure Extreme Metal by.

4Awesome album.  Feb 15, 2009
While Exodus never quite reached the heights of Metallica or Megadeth, they delivered quite a slab of groovy metal noise throughout their career. This, their first proper studio album, is considered by many metalheads to be their best.

Part of the reason I love 80s metal so much (no, not Quiet Riot, you silly goose) is because of the cheap wall of sound that encompassed so many of these earlier thrash records. Reverb galore, Bonded By Blood just sounds "evil," like Venom with a little more instrumental prowess. It's an album that rocks in every conceivable way imaginable. You can bang your head to it. You can shout along to it. You can even skin babies alive with it! RAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGHHHH!!

Exodus also possess a certain integrity to them as they were around long before the thousands of Johnny-come-latelys of thrash metal cropped up in the late 80s. If you're burnt out on Metallica, got bored with Testament or think Anthrax are a little too silly, Bonded By Blood is definitely worth a listen.
