Sensational Sep 13, 2009 Having watched Leonard Cohen's DVD of his London concert I was intrigued following further research on Leonard to discover that Anjani was Leonard's current "romance", that Anjani was like a female version of Leonard and that she added significant style to his songs. The detail about how the DVD was made was very open and informative and the recorded songs nothing short of sensational. I maybe wrong, but I felt the songs reflected the intimate relationship between the the two, Leoard & Anjani.

Leonard Cohen - you da man!!! Nov 08, 2007 What can I say? Just an overall excellent mellow cd that is right up there with the best. I mean, how can you beat Leonard Cohen? The dudes a legend! His poetry/lyrics along with Anjani's luscious etherial voice make this a keeper. I love every song on this album. Thanks for the Dance is just terrific in sadness, clarity and openess. Sample the tracks to see if it is your style. Can't wait for her next cd.
The bonus dvd included has a couple music videos with the Golden Voice himself, LC. Neat. A real treat.

Smooth, lovely collection Jul 24, 2007 This is a deceptively simple group of songs. Don't mistake its gentle pace and laidback presentation for a lack of emotion and feeling. It's beauty is in its understatement. I think Anjani does a great job of interpreting Leonard Cohen's lyrics and songs. Anjani's voice is sweet and engaging as she sings these ballads, thoroughly connecting with the content of the lyrics and presenting a smooth, lovely collection. This partnership should continue and Cohen should record his next CD with Anjani--she adds a special dimension to his lyrics with her beautifully constructed yet simple arrangements.

Anjani: gorgeous and intimate, sings new intimately gorgeous songs Jul 19, 2007 We're accustomed to real and sincere warmth and intimacy contained in many of Leonard Cohen's poems and song-lyrics; all this, and more, is then confirmed when we actually see and hear him singing his songs, or reading his poetry aloud [as he often did in interviews in the 90s]; but I very much doubt if we've ever enjoyed such a warmth and intimacy from their delivery by a voice that is not his, by *another* voice, a different voice - a woman's voice, imbued as it sooooo is on this CD with, dare I say, a hint of Jazz here and a sigh-and-a-smile there, a little Waltz here and a smile-and-a-sob there. Well, we have now.
Anjani's rapport with Leonard's oeuvre is longstanding - after all, she sang backup on Cohen's 1984 'Various Positions' and then on the 1985 tours that followed [also playing keyboard], including her especially lovely performances on 'If it be your will' and 'Joan of Arc'; she later worked also on 1988's 'I'm Your Man'; 1992's 'The Future' and most recently, 2004's 'Dear Heather'.
This new solo album, her third [after 'Anjani' in 2000, and 'The Sacred Names' in 2001] confirms she still has the most captivating voice to sing and soar and sigh on every single syllable of these new lyrics.
The extra DVD disc has two charming song-videos [The Mist, and Thanks For The Dance] and a short item on the making of the album.
