Blue Alert Aug 12, 2009 This was a pretty good album. Some of Cohens interesting lyrics make it something worth listening to. Her voice is rich and full.
One of the best album of the last few years Feb 27, 2009 Anjani is both a great musician (she plays both the piano and guitar) and a great singer. All the songs are little gems: Cohen's lyrics are wonderful and Anjani's music fits so perfectly that you cannot imagine something else. Just listen and you will realize what is music at his best.

Life before Norah Jones Oct 04, 2007 Pianist Anjani Thomas has been doing her thing for decades, usually spending most of her time collaborating with her mentor, Leonard Cohen. And her latest release Blue Alert is nothing short of excellence.
Those of you that aren't fans of "piano jazz" (for lack of a better term) probably won't think much of this album because you might think that all the songs blend into each other, but in MY opinion, the album never runs out of gems. Standouts include the title track, "Nightingale" and "Never Got to Love You". Also stellar are relationship turmoil songs like the final two, "Crazy to Love You" and "Thanks for the Dance".
And everything else is great, too. If you want to hear some good coffee shop music right in your home, then put yourself on blue alert and pick up this disc.

Delightfully refreshing Sep 03, 2007 First of all you need to know that I am great Leonard Cohen fan. I love his lyrics and his voice and tend not to like other artists' renditions of his songs. So it was with some trepidation that I bought the CD by Anjani. I knew it was based on Leonard's lyrics and it has been a long time since Leonard came out with a new CD. Well, I was thrilled listening to Anjani! Her voice is filled with all the 'soulful' nuances, the richness that Leonard brings to his songs. It is definitely not Leonard's voice, it is distinctly her own.

Where have I been? Sep 03, 2007 I'd never heard of Anjani, but listened to a couple of lines on the Amazon link and liked what I heard. I love this CD! Songs written with or by Leonard Cohen just put the icing on the cake for me.
