 Not as good as before but not bad.... Dec 28, 2009
This was one of the only albums from COC that I didn't own or had heard because fans of their work had always told me this album lacked the magic and the feel of the earlier ones. They were not wrong. It seemed mixed poorly and the songs and melodies didn't reverberate with me as much as before. All in all it is not a bad album. Just not as good as before. A solid 6 out of 10.

This Cd was my introduction to C.O.C. As with many band in the early 90's it was word of mouth, or perhaps a magazine article about this being one in the top 5 of many editors/critics etc. for the year 1991 I believe.
Being a fan of Prong, Helmet, Biohazard etc..around this time, Meliah Rage was a band with a brief run I think that I liked a bit also with a similar sound. Pantera, and of course Exhorder...C.O.C fit right in with those as on the verge of something better in hard rock/metal, part thrash but not all sped up all the time etc..very heavy groove stuff that was more in the league of old Sabbath perhaps, blended with Metallica's riffage and song structures at time perhaps? Whatever, it sounded amazing and to me this was only the beginning of what they would get to later with "Deliverance", and "Wiseblood".
C.O.C helped shape hard rock and metal into what it is today many think like me, and they are still underrated as many of the bands influenced by the above bands have gone on to great things while the pioneers are left behind as footnots most often, most often while still putting out some pretty good music.
Song after song on here is a delight to the ears, hardly a dull track featured and some of their strongest material to date. I do have "Animosity" and I am glad they went in this direction on "Blind" over the hardcore sound, that was okay, but seemed oversaturated with bands. To go and help create this sound was a giant leap for not only them but the music world also.

this cd is way better than anything they did before or after. all variables coming together just right and impossible to replicate. i had this tape in my car stereo for about 6 months straight when i discovered it back in 92. agell's vocals are amazing. haunting powerfull voice. up there with layne staley or ozzy . peace sells, ride the lightning, blind, arise by sepultura, psalm 69, reign in blood, vulgar display, thats my top seven most essential iconic metal records.

this cd was my introduction to COC(i'd heard alot about them just never heard them)I was majorly impressed they were origial but could stand well with in most thrash of the time.I like and respect their hardcore punk early albums and think there newer matterial is good too but this was in my eyes the most aggressive material recorded for the most part.No realy high and no lows either, just a great cd worth off song that you woundn't want to skip any tunes.most people hate pepper for metalizing coc and don't like kyle or phil but I thought they add greatly to the evolution of coc and wished they would have recorded more with them.possibly the best cd they recorded and it definetly put coc in you face with touring & mtv videos dance of the dead& vote with a bullet and some good co headlining tours with white zombie&pantera ect. and support spots after this release which made everything else afterwards possible.grammy nominations,major tours with metallica&megadeth(ect) blind was an essential step forward noware else like it or not!
a must have cd!, vital!!
