What a great show! Sep 21, 2006
Hard to beat this one! This show is definitely an ACL series topper. The Oklahoma Wind track alone is worth the price of the disc many times over. Billy Joe Shaver's lyrics are just so good. Eddy Shaver's guitar playing is the perfect compliment to his dad's songs and his voice. New West Record's choice of shows to put out on this series of DVDs is very impressive. I should know as I have nearly all of them. (Question for New West: When is the Danny Gatton show going to be released?)

Billy Joe & Eddie at their best! Aug 04, 2006
As are all the Live from Austin Texas DVD's this one is great. I've had this show on VHS taped from the original broadcast of Austin City Limits but the enhanced sound and picture quality makes watching this a treat every time. If you've never had a chance to see Billy Joe live, this is a great way to do it and the only commercially available way to see what a great guitar player the late Eddie Shaver was.
Do not hesitate to pick this up for you collection. While you're at it check out the Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Texas Tornadoes and Tony Joe White DVD's in this series, you will not be disappointed.

THIS IS ANOTHER GREAT DVD FROM AUSTIN CITY LIMITS. IT IS NICE TO SEE EDDIE SHAVER PLAYING WITH HIS DAD. HOPEFULLY THERE IS OTHER MATERIAL OF THE TWO THAT WILL SOMEDAY COME OUT. UNTILL THEN WE HAVE THIS GEM. WELL WORTH THE MONEY...................

THIS IS THE LATEST IN NEW WEST RELEASES OF AUSTIN CITY LIMITS PERFORMANCES, AND LIKE THE PREVIOUS ONES IS OUTSTANDING IN QUALITY, BOTH VISUALLY AND AUDIO.THIS 1984 SHOW BY TEXAS LEGEND BILLY JOE SHAVER CONSISTS OF SONGS HE HAS WRITTEN, AND STILL PERFORMS TODAY. THE REALLY INTERESTING THING IS THAT WE GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SEE A YOUNG SHORT HAIRED EDDIE SHAVER(JUST 22YRS OLD) WORKING THE GUITAR AS ONLY HE COULD--HIS PLAYING IN SUPPORT OF HIS DAD OVER THE YEARS HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GREAT SOURCE OF PLEASURE TO THERE MANY FANS--HE IS SORELY MISSED.
SUPPORT THIS DVD, IT IS TRUE TEXAS GREATNESS, AND IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT.
