 DENSE, INTENSE, JUST GREAT! Feb 06, 2010
I agree with the mates that had reviewed, that this album is darker that the other KOL material, though it is a magnificent piece of work! i just love the way the melody on Caleb's harsh-screamy voice get mixed with the great riffs and bass lines to form this kind of dense hard rock n roll.....just awsome man! a couple of favourites of mine that are examples of what i say, would be indeed "charmer" and "mcfearless", and of course other great songs like the opening song "knocked up" is hypnothic and is a kind of strange country-hard rock melody; and not to forget the great(now UK rock)anthem "Fans"...maan this is an EXCELLENT album of KINGS OF LEON!!!
and for you collectors, this item came in RED VINYL edition..i don't know if it is numbered to just some quantity but i got lucky and got this gem!

Great cd, very solid, maybe one song that I didn't care for as much but even that one has grown on me.

I love it as always. If you don't know who Kings of Leon are yet, please buy this album! Or Only By The Night which is also amazing

Very interesting, deep record Oct 09, 2009
A friend of mine recommended this CD to me after I heard the song "Arizona" and loved it. I picked it up and the first time through, was kind of confused by the whole thing. There aren't really too many instantly "catchy" songs on it, and after one listen, I actually kind of wrote it off. Then I was forced to make a long trip in my car and brought this along just because it was still "new music" to me. I threw it in for the ride down and kind of let it soak in the background. What a revelation. I find this CD is one of the CDs I can't listen to if I'm short on time, because it's not that type of music. There are so many different parts to every song with so many interesting layers, that it doesn't seem to be appreciated with a superficial listen. There are so many catchy parts of so many different songs, I often find myself humming something from it, and am not even sure what song it belongs to. Like the part about 2:10 into "Charmer". Just a great CD all around.
If you are reading this and for some reason are still on the fence about getting it, just get it. These guys (to my limited musical knowledge) are original, creative musicians and even if you don't love it like I do, I think you'll still end up respecting what they've done here.

THIS WAS MY FAVORITE ALBUM BY THE KINGS OF LEON. A BAND THAT HAS A GREAT CD, NOT JUST ONE OR TWO SONGS. BUT CHECK OUT ALSO ALL THEIR CDS, THEY ARE SO GOOD.
