5Simply just amazing  Nov 10, 2009
Just "An Easterly View" alone makes this soundtrack worth buying, and there are so many more memorable pieces in it! But yeah, An Easterly View is the one that sticks out the most for me, especially the last couple minutes of it. The combination of this powerful piece and the ending scene of the final episode of BSG, where Bill Adama is sitting on that hill looking at the sun as the camera rises and the scene ends ... well, that combination darn near made me cry, and that's not an easy feat! As someone else here said, as brilliant as BSG was as a show, without this score it wouldn't have been anywhere near as great. Five stars from me, and I'd give it six if I could.

5Absolutely Incredible  Oct 30, 2009
With the Season 3 soundtrack, the extraordinary Bear McCreary busted the door wide open on what could be achieved on a television soundtrack. For Season 4, he walks right through it.

To keep this review brief, I'll simply say that this is an amazing album, both the season soundtrack and the Daybreak disc, that builds upon the themes and motifs that he had established over the course of the series.

This isn't just a great soundtrack, it's a brilliant album.

5EXCELLENT! Did it again!  Oct 27, 2009
This two disc set lives up to the superb scoring McCreary did for the first thee seasons.
The addition of a separate disc for the final episodes score was beautiful.

Track 5 on disc one carried that beautiful sound that became the Adama family theme.
And track 17, Kara Remembers is AWESOME, truly capturing the energy and the intensity of the whole show.
The final tracks on disc two rest quietly on the promising ending of the crew on 'Earth'.

Excellent score that McCreary hit with again!

5One word...Genius.  Oct 27, 2009
Bear McCreary proves once again that he isn't just the best composer on television, he's one of the best composers of any medium.

Although I own soundtracks for several films, this is the only television show that produces music I believe is worth listening to repeatedly. Bear McCreary started off strong with the Season 1 soundtrack, and yet has managed to top himself with each concurrent season. The Season 4 soundtrack is a culmination of everything done on the show thus far, and it really is amazing to listen to the progression throughout the years. The sheer number of instruments used is enough to inspire awe, but what's more, they're used perfectly, never becoming overbearing. They're also used in several different genres in a way that's unique to my ears. You don't have to like BSG to appreciate what he's done. You don't even have to watch BSG to appreciate what he's done. Just pop in the CD (or mp3s), sit back, and come to appreciate what the BSG viewers already know...Bear McCreary is a genius.

A few tracks I'd recommend: Gaeta's Lament, Laura Runs, Funeral Pyre, Roslin and Adama Reunited, Kara Remembers, Laura's Baptism, Kara's Coordinates, Elegy and So Much Life. Truthfully, I'd recommend almost every song (Not a fan of The Cult of Baltar). If you love music, this is a must-own album.

5Way to go, Bear!  Oct 26, 2009
The soundtrack for BSG season 4 is a must have for anyone that followed the series to its end. The massive 2 disc set does a fantastic job of capturing the best musical moments of the final season. The three hour "Daybreak" episode has its own disc. What really pops this as a CD purchase for fans is the artwork in the case. Stills from the series and behind the scenes are awesome, and dozens of quick hit interviews with cast members, staff members, and production team members are printed. They give a feel of what the music's contribution to the series as a whole was.
