Barefoot Contessa: Back to Basics Nov 22, 2009 As usual your service was good. The book is fab - very practical. My style of cooking. Ina Garten hits on the head everytime.

Maybe a little too basic? Oct 29, 2009 I like Ina and have learned a lot about creating simple, basic food from her books and her show over the years. This book does contain several keepers but, like her other books, there's not many recipes. For a $35 (list price) book, I think it's a little scanty. She's also actually included a recipe for baked potatoes that I think is really stretching it! I about choked when I saw it and I can't believe her editor(s) didn't tell her she was going to insult a lot of readers. Baked potatoes? What are we, 8 years old?
Great Addition to Your Cookbook Collection Oct 25, 2009 I love this cookbook! Barefoot Back to Basics has the same great narration by Ina Garten and wonderful recipes that you will easily make over again for family and company. Back to basics is simply Ina's way of taking "ordinary ingredients and cooking them or pairing them in a way that unlocks their true flavors." A hint of lemon zest, a dash of cinnamon, a hint of basil etc.. Great appetizers include; roasted shrimp cocktail, parmesan and thyme crackers and the bookclub favorite of pomegranate cosmopolitans. My kids love the easy white pizzas with homemade crust and arugula salad...it's easy..really and the pasta with pecorino and pepper. Desserts include; yummy brownie pudding and pumpkin roulade with ginger buttercream...There are many more favorites, all I find are easy to prepare and taste great. A really great addition and investment in your cookbook collection
