Soundtrack to One of the Greatest TV Mini-Series Ever... Sep 12, 2009 "Band of Brothers" is the soundtrack accompaniment to the HBO Miniseries "Band of Brothers", produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg and based on the book by World War II historian Stephen Ambrose.
The twenty selections on the DVD, nearly all orchestal pieces, were composed and conducted by Micharl Kamen. They are the sometimes stirring, sometimes introspective background to the journey of E Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, from its formation at Tacoa, Georgia, to its staging area in Britain, through battles in Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, and Germany, and finally to occupation duty in Austria at the end of the war.
Fans of the miniseries and the book will enjoy this excellent music DVD as a reminder both of a superb achievement in television and of the heroes who inspired it.
Great Soundtrac Apr 25, 2009 Enjoyed the mini-series and wanted to have the music. Found that the soundtrack CD was beautifully orchestrated and it gave me the same enjoyment as watching the movie. Hauntingly beautiful reminder of the horrors of war. The big enjoyments came from the 3 suites (one is almost 10 minutes long). The minor tracks on the CD were a little repetitive.
Band of Brothers Jan 27, 2009 Best war movie I have ever seen. I have already watched it three times since buying it a month ago.
Fantastic. Jan 27, 2009 This soundtrack, like the HBO's miniserie, is fantastic. Make that you will want the serie.
Superb Jan 26, 2009 A beautiful and elegant soundtrack befitting of one of the best productions ever made for television. Dispelling the necessity for celebrity actors, this is a fine mix of elements of production. I can only imagine the first time Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Hanks listened to the finished composed soundtrack. I can see them smiling from ear to ear.
Maestro Kamen hit it just right, in my opinion. The haunting waltz as main theme buzzes in my head and I do not tire of it. Honor, respect, courage and valor - that is what I hear in the music. One such reviewer uses the word, "schmaltz" in describing this soundtrack. Get a life, Bud. This soundtrack has sentiment but it is not sentimental, there is a difference.
