4Great Bach Music on the Organ!  Aug 18, 2009
This CD includes Bach's great music for the Organ performed by Virgil Fox. The only set-back on this disc is that on Toccata and Fugue, Virgil keeps speeding up, and gets to fast for me. Also, he gets very soft, and then really loud. You have to constantly change the volume. It's not me favorite recording, but it's still good. The other songs on this disc sound great, though. Especially Little Fugue in G minor. Overall, it's a great disc of Bach's Organ works.

4Handled with care  Feb 27, 2009
The tracks on this cd are the best known Bach organ compositions. Exept the first track they are all quit ones.
Virgil Fox masters them well by running into the composition and after some intervals holding back in downsizing the volume and tempo. It works. A sense of joy comes out of it. The joy of being in a musical adventure that has no peer. The Italian film director Olmi used one of the tracks in his film "The tree of wooden clocks". For all off those who have enjoyed this movie this cd I would like to recomment.

4pleasing music but not perfect  Jun 19, 2008
As a fan of Bach I enjoy listening to this CD. It is certainly played in a more Romantic style than Baroque, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

However, there are some slight slipups - most notably for me in the Fugue in G Minor. It is still enjoyable to listen to, however, just not perfect.

Considering the price of this album, I cannot do anything but recommend it.

4WHY  Jul 30, 2007
why would anyone give this CD any less than 4 stars? I don't pretend to be an expert on the music of J.S. Bach, but I do know what sounds good. This is good music to listen to, especially if you are in the mood to listen to a mighty church organ played by a master of his craft.

1A Mockery of Bach  Feb 18, 2006
Fox makes a mockery of Bach's great organ works. Fox should confine his playing to calliope at a carnival. Fox's flamboyance in playing and in his choice of organ stops disrespects Bach's work and genius.
