A timeless debut Mar 05, 2010 Howie Day's debut album is a distinct, well written album and shows that Day has a knack for catchy melody's. With a voice that doesn't match his appearance its easy to forget that Howie was only 19 when first released. Australia easily is his best work. An honest album that rivals any from Semisonic, Goo Goo Dolls or The Verve Pipe.
Five-star Howie Dec 19, 2009 I too first experienced Howie a few years ago when he was touring with Tori Amos. I left that concert feeling like he was better than Tori, which if you know me sounds unimaginable. Howie was that amazing live. Seeing him form a whole orchestra while alone on stage was a site fun and amazing to behold. As my friend tried to chat beside me I quickly tried to shut her up so I could pay attention, for the first time, to an opening act. I have been listening ever since. The next day I went to Best Buy and got the CD and I regret now not getting it at the concert when he was still unknown enough to be sitting there signing his CD and maybe tell him how his music made me feel. Anyway, I put on the Australia CD and although it wasn't the same as seeing him live the songs all came back that he had performed and it was a huge delight to listen to. The Morning After, the second to last song is a live performance and probably my favorite song on the CD, so that element is still there. If you get the chance see Howie live. The whole CD is amazing from Sorry, So Sorry until the haunting Disco at the end. I love this CD and I know Howie has had some ups and downs but I wish him well, hope he is at peace now and will one day make an album as good as his first. Stop All The World Now just isn't a close second and I know it was very popular due to "Collide" I think people who like that song may wrestle with this CD a bit, but it's magic is here for everyone to see.
Long time fan Jun 26, 2009 It was the summer of 2002 in Dallas, Texas when I first came across Howie Day's music. I was in a local music store and they had a few music samplers. I just happen to grab Howie Day's Australia music sampler. I have to say, that is the best random taking I have ever done. It was the first time I ever heard such an amazing mixture of emotion, lyrical prowless, and a haunting sound. I had Sorry So Sorry and Ghost on repeat for years.
Perfect Transaction! Feb 19, 2009 I would order any day from this seller. Either by the afternoon or next morning after placing order, I got an email from the seller acknowledging the order and advising it would be shipped by the very next day. I really like that little extra personal touch. I received the cd very quickly and it was in perfect condition. Your awesome! Thanks.
Love it! Jun 06, 2007 Like many, I heard this after Day's second LP, Stop All The World Now. I love this album - every song. It's a bit more unpolished than the first album - but I'm not a purist - I don't see that as better or worse - it's just good, good stuff. I recommend this & all of his material. I haven't liked a new artist this much in years. I feel like an enthusiastic about music teenager again.
