4Amazing once again  Nov 14, 2009
Another amazing album from Blue October as they continue their journey into unfamiliar territory...happiness. This album is not as raw as some of their earlier work but there is an evolution of sound and lyrics present here that any Blue fan cannot miss. Overall, another fantastic album from Blue October and quite possible their best tour to date.

5Best Blue October Album Yet!  Nov 12, 2009
Approaching Normal is my favorite Blue October album to date . . . a challenging feat! Stephanie Meyer (author of the renowned Twilight series) once remarked that Blue October's music was special because "While there are other musicians that can recall to me times in the past where I might have felt sadness or rage or infatuation, it's very rare to find a song that can actually put me in that emotion, rather than just reminding me of it. There is an empathetic power in Justin's message - the listener doesn't just sympathize with the feeling of the words, the listener has no choice but to feel the words as if the emotions was his/her own."

This new album continues and even extends that experience with songs that take you through an array of emotions from despair to hope to moving on to the next chapter of your life. This new work further demonstrates the integration of the entire band into a team. The compositions are rich and underscore the deep messages that Blue October continue to offer to so many of us. It offers something for everybody and is a great introduction for listeners new to Blue October!

5Another Brilliant Album  Nov 06, 2009
I Love this album from start to finish. It is different from the bands other CD's but in a good way.

5Another beautiful BLUE album!  Nov 03, 2009
The thing I love MOST about Blue October albums, is that they each have their own different and unique sounds. Where as their FIRST album, The Answers, is very musically driven...and Foiled is lyrically infused....Approaching Normal is a lovely mixture of both. More "radio friendly" songs on this CD, fueled by possitive messages. ("Jump Rope."and "Blue Skies.")But also a few "darker," or "sad" songs for the Blue Fans that prefer THOSE to the peppier stuff. ("Weight of the World," "Picking Up Pieces, "Been Down.") A beautiful song about his daughter. ("Blue Does") And let's not forget about the Bonus Tracks! "Graceful Dancing" on the clean version of the CD. And "The End" on the explicit. Both AMAZING songs!
Over all, another WONDERFUL CD from Justin and the boys of Blue October! But, honestly, did we expect anything less?
=)

5Love it  Nov 03, 2009
I feel as if this album is one of the greatest hits. I love all the songs. Most of them hit me, and makes me want to change peoples life. I love that this album and most of the others can inspire people including me. Thank you for making a great album. <3 Kearbears
