Better than Beekeeper, but we're still not there May 28, 2009 I love the concept of this album; I think it's a little more rich and perhaps a bit more thought-out than "Strange Little Girls". Also, I love the photography. Pip's definitely my favorite...but...I just don't feel the emotion, the "Tori Magic" in this one.
I fear I fell off the bandwagon after "Scarlet's Walk" and I was hoping to climb back on with American Doll Posse but couldn't.
I think my problem with this album is, while it does have some lovely songs, some of the music sounds too MUCH like Tori which might not make sense. It's the Def Leppard phenomena: all the songs sound the same? While the songs on this album definitely do NOT all sound the same, many of them sound like someone copying Tori Amos. Some of the music sounds a lot like Kate Bush, which was unexpected, since I don't think Tori has really sounded like Kate Bush since "Little Earthquakes".
It's a good compilation of her overall "sound" both old and what she's been playing with more recently, but it just doesn't move me as her earlier albums do. I don't sing these songs in the car on long road trips, I've only pulled two songs for my go-to playlist and I don't think this album will get me through any turbulent life changes.

American Doll Posse May 08, 2009 American Doll Posse being Amos 9th studio album and her 2008 release is a 23 track concept album that was a smash hit and reached #5 in the Billboard 200, #7 in the Top 100 European Albums. Singles that were released on this album where "Big Wheel" and "Bouncing off Clouds". The booklet is really nice with amazing photographs of Ms Amos in many different outfitts. All the lyrics are included and we get a list of whom plays what on this album. 5/5.

tori is back... and shes smokin hot! Feb 27, 2009 first of all, i belive that tori was sent here from heaven, shes that good.
be that as it may, i hated the "beekeeper". i've tried to like it, i really did, but is just wasent good.
but i still had faith in my tori, and i couldn't wait for "posse" to be realised,
well, what can i say... this album rocks! so many great songs, great attitude.
after two years, i still listen to this album all the time, i just cant stop.
however, this album could have been shorter. the short songs are nice, but not necessary.
a 15 songs album would have been even better. but don't let that stop you. you can just skip the songs you don't like, and listen to the other amazing songs.
my fave are:
bouncing.
secret spell.
code red.
almost rosey.
beauty of speed.
dark side of the sun.
body and soul.
one of tori's best work. an album that should have gotten more credit,
enjoy!!!

What Can I Say? Aug 20, 2008 I've learned not to have "expectations" when i purchase a Tori Amos album. i love her work- I really do- but whenever you delve into her music with expectations, she usually throws you for a loop. I was prepared to dislike most of this album, but since i'm a teeny bit addicted to her music, I bought it anyway. And i'm glad i did. I was afraid because the first time I heard Big Wheel I hated it. I didn't get it because it was so different from her 90's work (which was the only stuff I'd heard at the time). However, now that I have it, I'm kind of fond of it. I would never compare it to her 90's work. It is a different era, as she said and I respect that. I like it all and love a third of it. It's more of a riding-in-the-car- kinda CD. Nice, catchy. For me, it's the concept that really sold it. I think any fan should have it, but i'd be afraid of introducig perspective fans to this first.
