 The greatest! Apr 22, 2010
I have been an 'Elvis Fan' since the 50's! I received this CD from from my sister many years ago. When our St Bernard decided it was for her to chew, I was upset, of course! I was so happy to find on Amazon.com and at a very reasonable price. If you're an Elvis fan, you'll love this CD. Also the '68 Comeback CD.

I have waited a long time to be able to purchase this audio CD. I was not disappointed. This album is absolutely fantastic and just by listening to it, I could actually imagine Elvis singing as
I already have both DVDs "Aloha from Hawaii" special and delux editions.The audio quality is awesome and I strongly recommend this CD.

The "Aloha..." album records a landmark event in broadcasting -- the performance, by Elvis Presley, in front of an estimated 1,000,000,000 viewers via satellite. As he never toured outside the United States, it was the first and only chance for much of the world to see an Elvis concert in full. While the majority of that billion were no doubt satisfied, if not ecstatic, with what they saw -- they could have, and should have, received better.
The performances themselves are technically flawless. Elvis completed every track without mis-steps, false starts, or -- increasingly common in his later years -- obvious boredom. He was in fine voice, and he looked fantastic. However, there's a dearth of spontaneity here, as well as a lack of the sort of explosiveness that characterized many of Elvis' best shows. One gets the impression that Elvis was playing it safe, perhaps mindful of the huge and culturally diverse audience. If he was nervous, he had reason to be -- and his performance is generally inhibited, and never really takes off.
The set-list, too, contributes to this lack of dynamism. Having released a live album only six months prior to this one, he jettisoned many of the tracks that helped "...Madison Square Garden" sound jet-powered. Too many of the replacements are mid-tempo yawners ("Something") or turgid ballads ("Welcome to My World," "My Way") that absolutely murder the momentum of the concert. The five bonus tracks are almost uniformly boring. During a handful of tracks, Elvis shows signs that he may yet crank it up to "11": The opening two numbers, a particularly impassioned "...Trilogy", and "Big Hunk O' Love." But the majority of the songs are superbly sung banalities.
Elvis released plenty of worthwhile live records during his lifetime -- "In Person," "Feb. 1970", "That's the Way It Is," (modern, expanded edition, preferably), "Madison Square Garden," and "As Recorded Live in Memphis." All of these are superior to "Aloha" in their own way.
There is no doubt that "Aloha from Hawaii" made millions happy, and those millions are entitled to their memories. But the last, best reason to buy the record -- the marvelously campy shot of Elvis in outer space (!) -- does not appear on the reissue. RCA with-held it for some reason. Don't avoid this record -- just get the really good ones first.

I purchased this CD for my daughter's birthday (she requested it!). Was so glad to find it on Amazon.com. B
ought one for me at the same time. It is in my car and I listen to it every time I am in it. LOVE IT. Miss Elvis.

Elvis had it all, he was so handsome, and he had a beautiful, remarkable, voice, that was as beautiful, and awesome as he was! Wow! Eventhough Elvis, was in my parent's generation, I still loved Elvis too! He has always been one of my all-time favorites! I so love his music, and style! I have seen no one that can outdo Elvis! If you have ever seen Elvis, at this live concert special, on 01/14/73 or seen it on TV, you will know what I mean, when I say no one can out do Elvis, the man who became King of Rock and Roll!
I sure wished that I could have seen him perform at this concert on 01/14/73 eventhough ,I was just a young little girl, I would have remembered Elvis! My parents love Elvis, especially my mother! Even my brother, who is younger than me, he loves Elvis, and Elvis's music, and the rock and roll music, inspired my brother Robin, to become a awesome musican, you should hear my brother play the lead guitar, he can rock the house down, and he has opened up for some famous bands and singers, Elvis and rock and roll played a big part, in my brother Robin's ,music and style!
I have seen this special on TV, and this live music CD, of that TV special, is one of my favorites! Elvis looked so good at this special concert, he can take your breath away, with his good looks, and beautiful, remarkable voice! And I just loved the way he interacted with the audience, and how they interacted with him, it was magic! And I love this music CD, and I HIGHLY recommend it! Some of my favorite songs are the following:
I'LL REMEMBER YOU!-(Oh! It melts my heart!)
YOU GAVE ME A MOUNTAIN!-( I felt like I was climbing the mountain with Elvis.)
BLUE HAWAII/KU-U-I-PO/HAWAIIAN WEDDING SONG/EARLY MORNING RAIN- (these songs made me feel like I was in Hawaii.)
MY WAY-(This song is especially written for Elvis!)
IT'S OVER-(Good song and Elvis!)/SOMETHING-(I loved the girl's high angel voice!)
AN AMERICAN TRILOGY-(This song and music is awesome!)
This is GREAT music, and among my all-time favorites, I highly recommend it! This CD has some awesome muscians, and backup singers in it, and I so loved that (BURTON), on that lead guitar, he is one of the best!
