Albertine... Aug 12, 2009 ...is a really good Christian album whose songs can stand apart from Meredith Andrews, and Kari Jobe. A really good experience.
The BEST CD I have bought in in while! Aug 11, 2009 I first heard & saw the video for the song "Shadowfeet" on the Gospel Music Channel. I was mesmeried by the lyrics and content. I song IDed it and found a treasure of other songs. Brooke Fraser is a great songwriter and although not all her songs are outright singing about Jesus, you can tell where her inspiration comes from. I loved her with Hillsong and I also love her in her solo albums. Besides "Shadowfeet," I am in love with "Hymn," "Deciphering Me," and "Albertine." All of them have meaning to uplift God and spread the loving message of Him!
Thoughtful(!), melodic pop/rock music. May 11, 2009 A literate singer/songwriter, keyboard and guitar player from New Zealand, Brooke Fraser brings depth of thought to her music. Inspired by her trips to Rwanda and her reading (note the C.S. Lewis allusions in "C.S. Lewis Song", "Shadowfeet" and elsewhere), Brooke also offers strong melodies in a pop/rock setting. Her lyrical thoughtfulness is somewhat reminiscent of the less known yet excellent (and a bit more bluesy), Brooke Annibale (particularly on Brooke A's CD, "The In Between").
Very nice Mar 26, 2009 I have really enjoyed this album and a few other songs I've heard from Brooke Fraser. I would say if you like soft rock/contemporary female artists, give this one a listen. It's not full of preachy or what I'd consider religious lyrics. She has a great voice, the music is good and it's just a very enjoyable and nice to listen to CD.
Albertine Review Mar 22, 2009 A beautiful album which jointly seems to soothe and challenge each time you listen to it; the original lyrics are so heartfelt and speak about life, love and being in relationship with the God of the universe. Brooke has been gifted with a naturally mellifluous, calming voice and she is using this gift to produce some really 'impactful' music; I totally recommend this album!
