Description:

Twista silenced the critics with his 2004 release Kamikaze, which on the strength of Slow Jamz and followup scorcher Overnight Celebrity, moved 2 million units. Riding high, Twista rang in 2005 with The Day After, his 4th album on Atlantic Records. In 2006, Twista’s collaboration with Kanye West stole the show on the Mission Impossible III soundtrack. Now after a full decade of global prominence, Twista is unleashing album 10 years in the making: Adrenaline Rush 2007. Make no mistake, 2007 is a statement piece. It provides the canvas for Twista’s broad musical palate, born of his mature understanding of, and dedication to, hip-hop. Adrenaline Rush 2007 spans the gap aptly, ranging from the requisite radio fare to unexpectedly sinister, savage spit-fests Trappers’ Delight with Jazze Pha and Cee-Lo is an overt nod to the seminal Sugarhill Gang single of 1979. Its playful melody smacks of the essence of Slow Jamz. Lead single Give It Up pairs Twista with Pharrell; set to Skateboard P’s uniquely whimsical production, the two woo women of all colors.

2Twista - Adrenaline Rush 2007  Jan 26, 2008
Twista's (A.K.A. Carl Terrell Mitchell) seventh solo album is "Adrenaline Rush 2007". Over the years I have enjoyed a number of Twista's albums and remember how slept on he was prior to "Kamikaze". The original "Adrenaline Rush" was a great album. Maybe Twista was looking to recapture that release. Times have changed though, and their is really nothing special about this release - I would like to see Twista do some more work with producer The Legendary Traxster - his presence is missed. Twista's last album "The Day After" - was full of love ballads to the ladies, and featured numerous guest appearances. This release is different Twista's getting "Charged" (started good, went nowhere) off Scarface getting blasted off the ledge, but that raw hunger he had seems to be gone. Toxic produced "Creep Fast" with T-Pain is a decent track, as is Twista's collaboration with Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony on "Ain't Noe Hoes". Track's like "Say Say" feat. Cee-Lo, Jazze Pha, Big Zak & "Love Rehab" feat. R Kelly are borderline corny, and don't touch Twista's past work, while the Neptunes provide very some monotonous production on "Give It Up". Production in general which mostly comes from Cuzzo & Toxic is below average. Easy to fast forward through this release, hopefully his next album is better.

2The Day After 2007 (2 and 1/2 stars)  Oct 29, 2007
Let me start off by saying that Twista's potential to be something great surfaced when he came out with Adrenaline Rush. Adrenaline Rush was a classic but the quality of his albums started to decline starting with Kamikaze. The Day After was garbage and now we're here. This album sounds like Kamikaze and The Day After copulated and had a premature baby by the name of Adrenaline Rush 2007. For starters the production is most handled by Toxic, whose production can only be described as predictable.

The Good: Aint No Hoes featuring Layzie Bone and Krayzie Bone is the best song on the album period. I Aint That N**** is somewhat like the old school Twista and Charged was an okay album starter. Creep Fast is cool and even though Im not fond of T-Pain, he did that hook some justice. Love Rehab feat R Kelly is the type of joint that Double Up should have sounded like. It consists of Twista busting some decent verses for that significant other while R Kelly sings his heart out.Trouble is an average joint but its better than most of the other songs Im about to mention.

The Bad: The first single, Give It Up feat Pharell is catchy but its forgettable and Pharell's awful verse partly why. Say Say(feat Jazze Pha and Big Zak) is yawn-inducing. Speed Knot Mobstaz are getting worse and it shows in No Pistols and The Come Up is a boring screwed song with a chessy wannabe exotic. The skits are stupid attempts to recreate the original skits off Adrenaline Rush.

The Ugly: Whip Game Proper(feat Lil Wayne) sucks off that Lil Wayne mixtape I heard it off of and its sucks now plus that beat sounds like they jacked an ice cream truck. Seven Day Hustle is corny and the sampling of The Shirrells is grating and the Galaga sounding Wrist Stay Rocky is the obligatory ode to ice that fails miserably. Pimp Like Me is humorously bad and sounds like an electronic dance record gone wrong.
Bottom Line: Twista's Adrenaline Rush 2007 is another dud by a rapper who is capable of much better work. The production was bland, the guests(with the exceptions of Cee-Lo, T-Pain and Bone Thugs N Harmony)were weak and Twista sounded like he was bored most of the time. To call a lukewarm album Adrenaline Rush 2007 as if it was a continuation of Adrenaline Rush when its really a continuation of The Day After is a slap in the face to anybody who remembered how great Adrenaline Rush was. Twista's hunger ended with Kamikaze. Let's face it, Twista doesnt have what it takes to make a good album anymore.

2What Happened?   Oct 17, 2007
Twista was one of my hands down favorite artists ever since the original "Adrenaline Rush". I nearly melted that disk in my old Sony CD Player and have since bought AT LEAST 4 new copies of that album (I tend to lose CDs).

Unfortunately, ever since the original A.R. Twista's albums have gotten worse and worse (except for Mobstability which wasn't a solo effort). They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I must be insane because I keep buying Twista's CDs expecting tight beats and his unique flows - instead I get watered-down beats and flows that are mediocre at best.

I hope his next effort is even half the CD that the original Adrenaline Rush was, this one wasn't even a tenth. If I lose this CD - I'm definitely NOT buying another.

4Pimp like me!!!  Sep 27, 2007
My boy Twista reppin tha Chi, to me it's no original Adrenaline Rush (A classic by tha way) but it's definitely worth copping. Me being from Chicago I luv how he represented what we call house music on "Pimp Like Me", if you from Chicago or know anything about Chicago, then you should understand where I'm callin from! I definitely dig tha song he did with my dudes, bone thugs "Ain't No Hoes" (That's that fire!) Reppin tha Midwest to tha fullest, it's our turn now! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was becuz of tha skits, some of them were kind of goofy, and by this being named AR 2007, it wasn't supposed to have any goofy skits. But this album is well worth tha money, so cope if you ain't already got it. Also cope Bone Thugs album if you ain't got it, cuz it's worth it and we're tryin to make this Midwest connection happen, you dig. Chi-Town Representa to tha fullest (Southside)!!!

1Worst Twista Album to Date  Sep 25, 2007
Time and time again....it almost seems that success kills the musical passion for something better. This sounds like any other club music out today. Nothing original here. More of the same. I was really disappointed with the last one, but this is even worse. Twista really had my hopes up with the Adrenaline Rush title to the album and everything. I thought he might just come back with something special, but it turns out to be just more of the same sounding radio junk. Maybe cool to play in the club, but nothing I want to listen to in my spare time.

For the youngsters or people who are new to Twista; go get the original Adrenaline Rush, it's a straight classic.
