Epic, Cinematic Album Sep 14, 2009 Act III is a visceral, visual album, from the haunting introduction to the emotional epilogue. The packaging and lyric booklet are beautifully designed, and the experience is magnified when you follow along with the photos and lyrics. I recommend this to anyone who wants to hear how multiple musical periods can be explored in one 60 minute masterpiece.

Melodramatic Prog-Pop "Show Tunes" Aug 26, 2009 I own Acts I-III, all of which are stellar releases, amazingly high quality music. This is heavily produced, highly emotional prog-pop. A lot of it plays like old time show tunes, or like Broadway musical tunes. There are multilayered harmonies (gorgeous), punctuating horns, and soaring string arrangements, alongside inventive guitar and keyboard parts. This Crescenzo guy is a genius with first rate writing, playing, vocal skills. He recorded Act I demos with just his brother and his mom, I guess.
On any of these three releases is some of the most beautiful rock music you will hear this year. I guess there's a story and six albums planned to tell it, but I could care less about that, the quality of this music is quenching, independent of a story. Really great.
5 stars isn't enough. Aug 20, 2009 When I first got it I was expecting an ok album, to be honest. Most bands burn out after the second album. But not The Dear Hunter. I knew at lease it would be decent. Then I heard it and I was blown away. It went above and beyond beyond the first two acts! Bravo!
The Dear Hunter Act III is a MATERPIECE! Aug 20, 2009 This new CD by The Dear Hunter has surpassed my expectations- it is both musically brilliant and the story line is mesmerizing. All of the tracks on this new installment in the epic story are good- I can't stop listening to them! I also like the orchestration the band has used on this CD- I even hear tubas!
Amazing musicianship! Aug 18, 2009 If you already know The Dear Hunter, then this album will be no surprise when you hear it. It is almost exactly what you'd expect, with a few AMAZING twists that you just KNEW were gonna come at you on this new record. I personally wish that there were more "up-beat-rockin" songs like on ACT II...but that's probably because I'm a drummer. Lyrically, Casey never ceases to amaze me. Musically, this album flows from one song to the next with some very unique and "almost funny" transitions. I say that because you'll be listening to it and sometimes when it changes you find yourself amazed saying, "Where the hell did that come from?!", which I personally really like because of how different it is from all the other modern music out there today. They are musical MASTERS and that's that. I can't wait to hear the next 6 Acts I hear they are planning on putting out. Love it!
I also really REALLY REALLY LOVE this band below. Please support the music you love...these people are musicians, artists, and are starving to make music for a living but can't do it unless we support them. Show your love and appreciation. Thanks :)
