Simply one of the finest... Oct 13, 2009 Simply one of the finest albums of Rod Stewart, "Tonight's the night" was the song to make love to all the Rod Stewart's fans in the seventies, romantic, beautiful and delightful, great song, great album!!! To make the things better the album also brings smash songs like "The Firts Cut is the Deepest" and "The Killing of Georgie".
Excelente álbum Sep 27, 2009 A Night on The town (1976) é um dos melhores discos de Rod Stewart. Além dos hits: "Tonights the night" e "the first cut is the deepest", tem pérolas como "fool for you", "the killing of georgie I e II" e "trade winds".

GREAT reissue of one of Rod's best albums Aug 21, 2009 This review is for the 2009 2CD Limited Edition (catalogue # R2 516570).
I only knew this album through the hits "Tonight's The Night (Gonna Be Alright)" and "The First Cut Is The Deepest" but bought it based on the multiple positive recommendations at the Steve Hoffman forums (the best place on the internet for discussing the sound quality of music releases). Audiophiles at that site (Google it) have said "... the original mastering is a little brighter in the upper frequencies, and I think that Rod's voice sounds more natural on the new remaster .... These releases are really great and worthwhile" - I agree 100% with those comments.
This 2CD set has excellent sound quality that is a worthwhile upgrade over ALL previous releases.
Bottom line:
- This album has converted me from a casual fan only knowing the hits of this album to a much more serious Rod Stewart fan.
- The SQ is very very good and I found nothing wrong with it. The packaging is superb (although I'm not the biggest fan of this digi-pak style), although all the artwork is printed on thick card and the booklet is printed on very good quality paper. The graphics are excellent quality.
Highly recommended to buy this - even if you're just a casual Rod fan (as I was), you will find extra material on here worth listening to. It's that good I also bought the Atlantic Crossing (2 CD Limited Edition) too!

What Happened To The Sound Quality? Jul 12, 2009 I was excited to get A Night On The Town in a special edition. I love Rod Stewart's first couple of Warner Bothers albums. This is now the third time I bought A Night On The Town On CD. This is not to mention my two album copies when the album first came out. The Remaster from 2006 is clearly better sounding than this release. Even when I adjusted the volume of the 2006 remaster and this new version, the 2006 remaster still has a cleaner crisper sound. Warner Brothers also messed up Atlantic Crossing at this time. When they expanded the live album awhile back, they also messed that up. My original had much more punch. It's bad enough Warner Brothers has milked me five times for the same music. Can't they at least get the sound right?

A Must Have Collector's Edition for ANY Rod Stewart fan. Jul 05, 2009 First of all, the original album is one of Rod Stewart's best. Chances are you know about the singles--Tonight's the Night, First Cut is the Deepest and the underrated "Killing of Georgie" but the rest of the tracks are all as good, with the exception of "Trade Winds." The rockers are high energy affairs with Rod wrapping that magnficent voice around amazing guitar work by Steve Cropper and other great studio musicians. And "Fool for You" is something of a forgotten Rod Stewart classic.
But the real treat here on this limited edition is the second disc. Starting with a never-before released song, "Share" which maybe a little weak lyrically but is still a vital track due to Stewart's delivery. The disc then features alternative versions of the entire original album. "Tonight's the Night" features a different third verse, and this new unearthed version of "First Cut is the Deepest" may actually be better than the orginal.
All of the versions of disc 2 are unpolished wich provides a unique listening experience that I highly recommend to all Rod Stewart fans. If you EVER liked a Night on the Town, you will love this limited collector's edition. But get it quick as it won't be around for too long!
