An amazing artist! Sep 11, 2009 Celine Dion has an amazing voice and it shows in all the songs on this album. She also has a knack for choosing uplifting songs. Definitely a keeper.
A New Day Has Come Feb 17, 2009 I have greatly enjoyed this CD! I received it as a gift and would gladly give it to someone who needs a lift!
definitely a keeper Jan 19, 2009 Don't let the naysayers turn you off to this album. After firmly establishing herself as a pop diva, then taking a hiatus from the recording studio, Celine Dion came back to deliver this wonderful album. The best cuts are prime examples of pure pop pleasure. In fact, it makes me wish she had delayed her first career retrospective, All the Way, to include some of these songs.
Two songs on the album, the title track and I'm Alive, are soul-affirming songs with lyrics that can lift you up, when you're feeling down. The instrumentation of I'm Alive is very catchy, a vague hint of Carribean beat, with synth-pop overtones. I can't believe the reviewers that griped about the album containing two versions of A New Day Has Come- more is more, folks. The radio mix is nice, but the "slow" version is just a masterpiece. It is the same version that Dion used for her Vegas performances (after the set list was tweaked). Everytime I listen to this album cut, I think of Celine taking the stage, with her flowing black gown.
I Surrender seems to rile the critics, who dismiss it as yet another chest-thumping power-pop ballad. I think it's an incredible coda to prior ballads like It's All Coming Back To Me, and To Love You More. The gospel-chorus feel near the end is just astounding.
Right In Front of You seems like it could have been a radio hit- too bad it didn't get airplay. I love the synth-string hook, and the chorus is downright infectious.
Contrary to the Amazon critic, Sorry for Love is NOT recycled Cher. Another wasted opportunity for a great maxi-single. I'm sure it would have been a number-one hit on the Dance chart. P.S.- As much as I love, LOVE this song, please, don't think think that Celine actually holds that note for that long!
Those are my favorite tracks, more than enough to make this an essential Celine Dion album.

The One To Buy Oct 29, 2008 If you aren't sure which Celine Dion album to buy, I would highly recommend this one. It shows her fun, upbeat side and her serious slow dramatic vocals. Have You Ever Been In Love- gives me goose bumps!! This is a great album for starting over - A New Day! This is the only Celine album I own and I listen to it all the time.
Some Pretty Songs May 18, 2008 Some pretty songs are on this CD. I can't listen to it in its entirety at one time as Celine Dion's voice isn't one that I can listen to for long periods of time, but in short bursts is great. Recommend this for anyone liking more romantic music.
