Description:

The latest version of the naughty-but-nice vocal acts that nimbly straddle pop, R&B, and hip-hop, 3LW (Three Little Women) are part 'round the way girls and part li'l sisters. Along with hot beats, this trio has sass and attitude, which often count more than actual vocal ability. But these gals can sing, even if it's often in that somewhat whiny, plaintive tone so beloved in contemporary R&B. As might be expected from their finger-waggin' smash, "No More," much of 3LW's thematic fixation is on boys and their shortcomings. In fact, a good subtitle for this engaging and strong debut might be "more songs about boys and pagers," since it seems that the little women spend most of the CD tracking down loser men with various electronic devices. As is the case with most of these contemporary girl groups, though, 3LW are no victims. On the remix of "No More," which features Nas, the girls display a gritty, mature determination that might be worth exploring on their next effort. Amy Linden

53LW step into the spotlight then step out  May 20, 2007
They did an awesome job on this Cd and many others but now that Kiely and Adrienne have gone with The Cheetah Girls (which are good two) they have sort of ditched 3LW. Now I think this CD is awesome but now it's like 3LW does not exsist. My fave song on this Album is No More (baby Ima Do it Right)

I highly recomend this CD to anyone who likes Pop and R&B music

4Strong debut shows promise  Jan 25, 2007
There's no denying that these girls can sing, especially lead singer Adrianna who can really blow for her tender young age (she was quite young when she recorded this album, in fact they all were). Complete with strong beats and smooth vocals, 3LW delivers just what the doctor ordered.

Starting things off with their smash it 'No More (Baby Ima Do Right)' these girls cement themselves as the next Destinys Child, complete with the strong lead vocals (and like Beyonce, Adrianna is somewhat of a mic hog...but she can sing so why not). The song may be your generic 'Bug-A-Boo' type riff but it's catchy and enjoyable.

Personally their second track, 'Is You Feelin Me?', is my favorite track here. The beat is tight and the lyrics are sung with confidence and perfect pitch. This is one that was made for the clubs.

'Playas Gon Play' has more of a happy vibe to it, very bouncy. This was their second single and it works. The girls here sing about the strength of their relationships with their men and all the trust they have in him. See, not every song here will be about how much men suck!

The girls next break out the first ballad of the album with 'Gettin too Heavy'. Here the girls plead with their man to take things slow and not push them into...you know, that thing us guys can't help but want so badly. The song is effective, the vocals once again are smooth, especially throughout the verses...the chorus gets a bit whiney but it's not too bad.

There next track is even smoother...an uptempo ballad called 'I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me' which is about just that, making her ex miss her. The beat is nice and simple but it does the trick. Great vibe.

Okay, heres the deal with 'Not This Time'...I love the spanish type guitar opening...love the infusing of techno type influence...Absolutly LOVE the verses...sung great and sound awesome...it's just that uppity chorus that drives me crazy...It's too, whats the word, little girlish...lame...annoying. The bridge, the rap, Adrianna's vocals, everything else but that freaking chorus...

Now everything that I hate about 'Not This Time', that uppity girliness, is what I LOVE about 'More Than Friends (That's Right)'. This song just grows and grows on me, in a good way, and makes me smile. The whole song is so upbeat and happy even though she's singing about loving a boy who loves someone else. It's just a really good song.

'Curious' is a real shell-shock for me. Here these girls channel great R&B groups like En Vogue with their smooth vocals, their classic beats and their maturity in tone, in lyrical content and delivery. I really like this song, and while it may not fit with the flow or even vibe of the rest of the album it's truly a great ballad. This song alone shows the promise these girls had. It's a real shame they went the way of Disney.

'Til I Say So' is another great club type song with lyrical content along the same lines as the ballad 'Gettin Too Heavy'. It's got fun lyrics, good vocals and a fun beat. If you like 'No More' then you'll like this one too.

'Crush on You' starts off a little annoying with those 'ya ya ya' stuff, but once that's over the song is catchy and fun. Singing about going behind their parents back to 'crush' on some guy, these girls sound strong here. Their harmonies and vocals in general mesh well together. The whole song is good, besides that intro. I really like the bridge...you'll see what I mean about harmony.

'Ocean' is probably their slowest softest track here. It's sweet and, after a few listens, I assume this is about love for God. At first I thought it was about yet another boy and then maybe a parent but I'm pretty sure it's another 'I love you God' type ordeal. It's a sweet track, but not one I listen to all that often.

The remix for their hit single featuring Nas closes out the album brilliantly. Nas is a great addition and the beat is fantastic. It's nice to see a real remix, not just the same song with rap at the end...lyrics, beat everything is different and even better than the original. Great addition and awesome way to close out the album.

So in closing, this is a great debut album despite the 'girliness'...these girls are great singers and very talented. It's sad they've moved on to smaller things, leaving the world of R&B and Hip-Hop for Disney, which may have given them a larger fan base and more money but wastes their talent. Oh well, we always have this to look back on and see what could have been. At least they put out an impressive sophomore album.
