I'd give it more stars if I could! Dec 30, 2005 I first head of Kalan Porter from YTV's Hit List. I first thought...nice name, nice song. Then, he became my favourite. He's not only the Canadian Idol. Kalan Porter is, and always will be, my idol as well. He has this amazing voice, which gives him the ability to make all the songs he sings sound great. But I think Kalan Porter is more than just great! No matter how dull and boring a song may sound, when Kalan sings it, prepare to hear a HUGE difference! It is sure to make you change your mind about that particular song. Keep those songs coming, Kalan!!!

Amazing voice Dec 02, 2005 I heard one of the tracks on my Pandora station and was blown away by his voice. I purchased that one track based on the voice alone. I was shocked to realize he was 19 years old, and the winner of the Canadian Idol contests...lol (I'm laughing because normally anything "Idol" automatically repels me). I have not heard all his songs, nor do I feel compelled to buy this CD because (no offense to all the Idol fans) the first CDs produced as byproducts of Idol shows are always over produced and too "fan friendly" for my taste. Understandably, they are trying to cater to the show's fans, whose ages range from preschoolers to grandmas. However I feel compelled to write a review on the sole basis there seems to be lacking an "objective" review in general. I do not follow the Idol shows, American or Canadian. But Kalan's voice is undeniably a gem...I can hardly believe there is all that lung power in that elfin body of his. Given his musical background, I will definitely keep tabs on this kid and wait to see how he applies his own personal tastes in music to his sophmore release. If anything, buy the CD on the strength of his voice alone.

GO GET IT! Nov 19, 2005 I have the CD and I think that it is really good. It really shows more of a different side of Kalan Porter. And the reason why his album went double platinum and the single went eight times platinum was because of one thing. His hair. That is what all the girls (like me)probably like about him the most.As for me, I like everything about him. Over all, it is bound to get you dancing. I do not care about what the critics all say. It is really good and every fan who loves Kalan and who loves Canadian Idol should go and get it. By the way, Kalans second album is coming out in March 2006.

RDR Oct 12, 2005 Personally I think it is offensive for Theresa fans to come on here and diss the True Colors track in regards that they would prefer to hear her sing the whole song. For me it is the other way. I would rather hear Kalan sing the whole song.
I love the CD and think it is a great first effort. I love the mix of songs and think Kalan did a great job in putting a wide array of songs on the CD to satisfy his various fans. Kalan has the uncanny ability to emote with every song he sings. There are some great catchy rock tracks, classical rock violin and ballads. Something for everyone.
I do think that the CD is overproduced in some areas. For me the two worst tracks on the CD are Unconditional because of the back track chorus vocals (mixing meyhem) and True Colors.
I think Kalan will be a huge star and this CD leaves you wanting to hear his next offering. His 2nd CD is slated for a March/April 2006 release.
