He's no hat act. Mar 13, 2008 Junior Brown is one of the few true country & western artists left. He is no hat act. He's got a great baritone voice and he can play the absolute 7734 out of his guit steel guitar. Listen to Freeborn Man. He and is backup band (wife on acoustic guitar and drummer) are as tight as bark.
Great Drivin' music CD...Brown's second and second best still! Mar 24, 2006 Junior Brown has turned on New Agers, hippies,
Country fans and even the Anti-Country crowd!
Now that's appeal. He's done a few guest shots
on shows awhile back and had some lipton tea
commercials, too! The boy has just got it!

Junior Brown 12 shades Nov 22, 2004 I bought this cd at Amazon.I'd seen Junior on Austin City Limits.I've thoroughly enjoyed this cd,I crank it up on several of the songs when listening in my car.The studio work is good, with good clean sound. On the first track,Junior sounds amazingly like Ernest Tubb, complete with Billy Bird sounding guitar. On Broke Down South of Dallas,he sounds like Dave Dudley. You can in fact hear a lot of influence from the country stars you love in this cd.For a few:Ray Price,Hank Williams,Hank Thompson,Al Dexter,Spade Cooley,Pee Wee King maybe.I can tell Junior grew up listening to the same thing I did(I was listening to stuff from before my time,I aint all that old!)There's a song where he plays 3 finger banjo on the electric guitar(Free Born Man)It's Hot...However,there are a couple of acoustic sermons on there that are not that great. All in all,its a great album.

You gotta hear this! Sep 13, 2003 Junior Brown is like no other singer, he is just himself. An absolutely refreshing mix from Ernest Tubb to traditional Texas shuffle with a bit of Hawaiian and Rockabilly...Sounds confusing, but trust me, you will love this record! Junior is also a master picker on Guitar and Steel, he plays his famous Guit-Steel and sings up a storm. This guy is definitely a highlight in today's monotone recording world.
